What are the advantages of a DC brush motor?

The operating principle of a DC brushed motor is based on the law of electromagnetic induction, which realizes the rotary motion of the rotor by interacting the magnetic field generated by flowing current through the stator with the magnetic field of the permanent magnets or armature on the rotor. The brushes (also called brushes) in a brushed motor and the rotor exchange and steer the current through the cooperation of brushes and commutator. Meanwhile, DC brushed motor has the following advantages:

1. High starting force and torque: DC brushed motors provide high torque at startup, making them capable of handling loads at startup and suitable for some applications that require rapid acceleration and speed change.

2. Wide speed range: DC brushed motors provide relatively stable performance throughout the entire speed range, making them suitable for applications that require variable speed regulation, giving them a high degree of controllability.

3. Simple and reliable structure: The structure of DC brush motor is relatively simple, consisting of rotor, stator, brushes and commutator, which reduces complicated parts and connections, and improves reliability and usability.

4. Flexible control: DC brush motors are more flexible in controlling speed, direction and torque, and can be precisely controlled by adjusting the voltage and current, which is suitable for application scenarios that require precise control.

5. Lower cost: DC brush motor manufacturing costs are relatively low, maintenance and repair costs are also low, suitable for cost-sensitive areas.

It should be noted that, although the DC brush motor has advantages in some aspects, but there are some limitations, such as noise and spark generation, life is relatively short and other issues. In some application scenarios with high noise, life and maintenance requirements, DC brushless motors are gradually replacing DC brushed motors.
