A gear motor pairs an electric motor with a reduction gearbox, trading rotational speed for output torque. In most designs the gearbox decides how the unit behaves in service: the reduction ratio sets the output speed, the gear geometry sets the torque ceiling and the noise level, and the housing determines where the motor can be mounted. Zhengke builds gear motors across four gearbox families, in frame sizes from 12 mm to 80 mm and supply voltages from 6V DC to 220V AC.

Spur Gear Motors: ZGB Series

Spur gearing is the most direct way to bring a small motor down to a usable output speed. The ZGB series covers 25 mm and 37 mm body diameters, with 6V to 24 V DC input and output power from a fraction of a watt to roughly 5 W. Shaft configuration often decides the part number rather than the electrical rating: the ZGB37RG and ZGB37RE are supplied with eccentric shafts for printer and paper-feed mechanisms, while the ZGB25RP is a general-purpose 25 mm unit for hobby drives and light-duty equipment. Custom shafts and mounting flanges are drawn to order.

Planetary Gear Motors: ZGX Series

A planetary gearhead distributes load across several planet gears, which raises torque density and keeps backlash low in a short overall length. The ZGX series runs from 24 mm to 50 mm gearhead diameters. The ZGX38REE pairs a 38 mm planetary head with a brushed motor, the ZGX36RH is used in compact drive assemblies, and the ZGX50RHH is built for electromedical equipment where smooth torque delivery matters more than peak speed. When precise speed and direction control is required, the same gearheads are matched with brushless motors, as in the ZGX38RSS for medical devices.

Worm Gear Motors: JSX and ZWL Series

A worm drive places the output shaft at right angles to the motor, which solves mounting problems in narrow enclosures, and it self-locks: with no power applied, the load cannot back-drive the motor. The JSX370 combines an RF370 brushed motor with a metal worm gearhead, and the ZWL-47FP frame runs on 12 V to 24 V DC at output powers of 1 W to 3 W and rated speeds in the tens of rpm. The sliding contact of worm gearing also absorbs sudden shock loads and runs more quietly than spur or planetary gearing, which is why worm gear motors are common in vending machines, packaging lines, and lift mechanisms.

AC Synchronous Gear Motors: KTYZ Series

Where the machine runs from mains power and needs a fixed output speed, the KTYZ series operates directly from 220 V AC without a separate driver. Frame sizes of 49 mm, 50 mm, 60 mm, and 80 mm cover the usual range of load requirements, with output power up to 60 W on the largest frame. Applications include ice makers, ice cream machines, and automatic control equipment where constant speed matters more than variable control.

Choosing Between the Four Families

Three parameters usually settle the choice. Output torque at the required speed eliminates any family that cannot deliver the load within its frame size. Duty cycle separates brushed from brushless designs: intermittent operation suits a brushed motor, while continuous or round-the-clock running favours brushless. Environment decides the sealing, the bearing type, and often the gearbox itself, since a worm drive tolerates dusty and damp conditions that would shorten the life of an exposed spur train.

Gear ratio, shaft dimensions and flats, cable length and connector type, encoder and brake options, and IP sealing for dusty or wet locations are specified per order. Drawings and samples are provided before production so the mechanical interface can be verified against the customer’s assembly.
